ITV Nature Series Heads to Australia

LONDON: The Australian broadcaster Seven Network has acquired the prime-time nature series Billy Connolly Journey to the Edge of the World from ITV Global.

Billy Connolly Journey to the Edge of the World takes viewers on a voyage through the North West Passage, a legendary route deep within the Arctic Circle. The 4×1-hour series world premiered on ITV 1 in February, coming in at the number one spot among all audiences in prime time. The broadcast came alongside a number one selling hard-back book of the same name, which is set to hit retail in Australia in April from Hachette. The show will be on offer from ITV Global at MIPTV.

Augustus Dulgaro, the senior VP for Australia, Japan and New Zealand at ITV Global, said, "We’re delighted to be premiering Billy Connolly Journey to the Edge of the World on Seven. The series has become a ratings juggernaut in the U.K. amongst all audiences in primetime, we’re confident it will perform equally as well for Seven when it premieres in April."

Angus Ross, Seven’s head of scheduling and acquisitions, added, "Billy Connolly’s unique style of travelogue has always been very warmly received by Australian audiences and this series will be no exception—it is his most spectacular and inspiring journey to date."
