The Parents Leads Distraction Offerings

MONTREAL: Distraction’s slate for MIPTV includes the scripted format The Parents from La Presse Tele.

The Parents centers on a mother and father of three rebellious boys aged 8, 12 and 14. The president of La Presse Tele, Andre Provencher, said: "The Parents is Quebec’s television revelation of this TV season. With market shares of over 30 percent, presenting a comedic and compelling mirror of today’s family life, The Parents is certainly the largest success of Francophone television today."

Also in Distraction’s catalogue, Make Me an Anthem selects people from a nationwide search to compose an anthem for a cause or event. Guinea Pig is a factual entertainment format that sees host Ryan Stock partake in a number of real-life experiments, however daring, all in the name of science.

Also from Canada, Glam City is part of Distraction’s finished programming lineup this year. The 13×1-hour HD series is a nocturnal exploration show of the most ‘glam’ cities in the world that blows conventional style and travel programs out of the water.

From Israel’s Matar Productions is the game show Cash at Your Door. The show puts a host on to people’s doorsteps and into their homes with a suitcase full of money to play an on-the-spot trivia quiz for upfront cash.

Shrink to Go is an infotainment format that gives advice to real people who are in dire need of it, on the go. Cool in Your Code is available as a format and ready-to-air series from the U.S. that presents everything in a given city from food and culture, to music, fashion, celebrity and entertainment and more.

From Distraction’s Finnish partner Aito Media comes Night Patrol, which follows the dramatic events of a police team for one night.

Michel Rodrigue, the president of Distraction, commented: "I have great belief in the sales potential of this strong slate. And with The Parents’ similarities to Distraction’s international bestseller Love Bugs in mind, our sales ambitions are high. The Parents is Love Bugs with kids!"
