Slow Start for NBC’s Kings

NEW YORK: NBC’s much anticipated new drama Kings premiered on Sunday night and averaged just 6 million viewers, with CBS winning the night overall, and ABC taking the top spot in the 18-to-49 demo.

Kings is a modern-day spin on the David and Goliath tale, starring Ian McShane. Despite positive reviews, the show, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday night. delivered just 6 million viewers ahead of The Celebrity Apprentice at 10 p.m., which scored 6.7 million viewers.

CBS, meanwhile, placed first for the night, with The Amazing Race 14 winning its time slot with 10.4 million viewers. At 9 p.m., ABC topped with Desperate Housewives‘ 14.4 million viewers, while Cold Case on CBS secured 12.9 million viewers. In the 10 p.m. slot, CBS’s The Unit had 10.9 million viewers, while ABC’s Brothers & Sisters had 10.6 million.
