HK Rollout for NBCU Networks

SINGAPORE: NBC Universal Global Networks’ Universal Channel and SCI FI Channel are now available in Hong Kong on the now TV platform.

The launch builds upon NBC Universal Global Networks’ expansion strategy, with plans to have more than 100 channels globally by 2010. "NBC Universal Global Networks is thrilled that we are able to start 2009 by completing our full suite of channel offerings into Hong Kong," said Raymund Miranda, the managing director for the Asia Pacific at the company. "A partnership with now TV is valuable in the region given their track record since the launch of their IPTV platform. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with now TV in the years to come."

Janice Lee, the new media executive VP at now TV’s parent company, PCCW, added: "Movies and dramas form one of our central pillars of content, providing customers the exceptional TV entertainment with countless masterpieces. This serves to underscore our pledge to continuously enrich our program lineup and upgrade quality standards that meet the needs of our discerning viewers."

In the Asia-Pacific region, Universal Channel is now on offer in five markets, with SCI FI in six. KidsCo, a joint venture channel with Cookie Jar Entertainment and Nelvana, is also available on now TV, while Hallmark Channel, another NBC Universal Global Networks-owned service, is available on all major platforms in Hong Kong.
