MTV's Staying Alive Campaign Sets Plans for World AIDS Day

NEW YORK, November 10: In
marking its ten-year commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS, MTV Staying
Alive has produced a new documentary, The
Diary of Kelly Rowland
, which will air alongside other Staying Alive
programming on MTV networks around the world for Worlds AIDS Day on December 1.

Rowland is a founding
member of the pop group Destiny's Child and was recently appointed ambassador
for the Staying Alive Foundation. The new hour-long doc chronicles her travels
with the foundation to visit its grantees in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and
the U.S. The Diary of Kelly Rowland features
the singer's first-hand experiences with young people affect by HIV/AIDS and
their intimate discussions on their experiences and communities.

MTV Networks International's
chairman and CEO, Bill
Roedy, commented, "The poignant documentary highlights Kelly's
unrelenting commitment to raising awareness of HIV/AIDS. She has fully embraced
her role as Staying Alive Ambassador and the responsibilities that go along
with it—the documentary is testament to her dedication, passion and
yearning to do more. In her quest to reduce the stigma associated with the
epidemic, Kelly has upped the ante by getting tested herself—we are proud
and honored to have her as our exemplary ambassador especially in this landmark
tenth year."

Other MTV programming set
for World AIDS Day includes the one-hour documentary MTV Staying Alive: XPress 2008; MTV
Staying Alive: Choices
, shot in Jamaica; and MTV Staying Alive: Sex Uncovered, a series of 20 30- to 60-second
spots shot in Mexico.
