RLTV, NBC News to Co-Produce Current-Affairs Series

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 10: Retirement Living TV (RLTV), a network targeted at the 50-plus set, has concluded a co-production deal with NBC News for the daily one-hour live news and current-affairs series Daily Cafe, which launches in its third season tomorrow.

The deal is an expansion of the two companies’ prior content-sharing agreement. Airing daily from noon to 1 p.m. EST, the series will broadcast live from Washington, D.C. with host Fred Grandy, a former four-term U.S. Congressional Representative from Iowa and ex-president and CEO of Goodwill Industries, and from 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York with MSNBC anchor and correspondent Alex Witt.

In the first week of season three, Daily Cafe will feature interviews with Elton John, Elvis Costello, Daniel Craig and George Hamilton, among others. The episodes will also include NBC News briefs and a nationwide weather report, plus specialized segments such as “Healthy Living” and “Nest Egg.”

"We are happy to further develop our relationship with Retirement Living TV," said Cheryl Gould, the senior VP of NBC News. "The Daily Cafe partnership is a great way to share NBC News with a wider audience and specifically tailor our programming to fit the needs of mature adults."

"The combined strength of NBC News and RLTV on-air talent, contributors and producers assures that this co-production of Daily Cafe will be a significant and valuable offering to the very substantial 50-plus TV audience," added Elliot Jacobson, the VP of programming and production at RLTV. "Combining RLTV’s experience in programming to this demographic with NBC News, a clear leader in broadcast journalism will produce a unique offering in the television landscape."
