TV-Loonland Secures Deals for The Owl

MUNICH/LONDON, June 5:
TV-Loonland has inked a deal for a range of plush toys based on The Owl, in addition to securing further broadcasters and
a new home-video partner for the short-form comedy.

British toy outfit Vivid
Imaginations has signed on to provide a host of plush toys for the property.
Meanwhile, Mediaset in Italy and RTVE in Spain are the latest broadcasters to
pick up the series, with Tribanda Pictures securing the home-video rights in
Spain.

The Owl is already available on Verizon’s mobile network in
the U.S., and will be going live on British operator 3 this month, with other
U.K. networks to follow in July. The 52×1-minute series, which features the
adventures of a feisty pink owl, has sold into more than 185 territories.

Vivid’s marketing and
licensing director, Emma Sherski, commented, “The Owl has a merciless charm that appeals to everyone’s
mischievous side and we immediately likened the character and the opportunity
to that of global hits Flat Eric and the Crazy Frog.”

She added: “We are
fast-tracking production of a range of plush toys for this Christmas to reach
territories where The Owl is
already a hit, including the U.K., France, the U.S. and the Nordic region.”

TV-Loonland’s head of
licensing and merchandising, Bernd Conrad, added, "We are thrilled to be
working with Vivid on The Owl.
Once again, Vivid proves to be an innovative company who has made the right
choice—The Owl has a lot
of potential and Vivid’s exciting new range will definitely be a hit throughout
international markets."
