Singaporean IPTV Platform Scoops UEFA Rights

SINGAPORE, March 20: The Singaporean
telecommunications giant SingTel, operator of the mio TV IPTV platform, has
secured the rights to the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup for 2009 to
2012.

The rights to both competitions are currently
held by ESPN and Star Sports, which are carried in the Singaporean market on
StarHub. Under the new agreement, SingTel will have the exclusive media rights
across its mobile, Internet and mio TV platforms. SingTel plans to stream UEFA
Champions League games both live and on-demand on mio TV and on the Internet
through the IDEAS portal (www.ideas.singtel.com). It will also offer
clips on its mobile service.

StarHub, meanwhile, today issue a statement
stressed its commitment to football coverage; with 11 dedicated sports
channels, StarHub holds the exclusive broadcast rights to the Barclays Premier
League for three seasons, and exclusive rights to Euro 2008. In addition,
StarHub also holds the exclusive rights to the Spanish Primera Liga (2008/09),
UEFA Cup (2007/2008 & 2008/2009), International Friendly matches 2008/2009
and World Cup 2010 Qualification matches (2008/2009), among others.
