ABC Australia Grows Children’s Team

SYDNEY, January 29: The
Australian Broadcasting Corporation has appointed Barbara Uecker as the head of
programming and acquisitions, and Carla de Jong as the commissioning and
development editor.

Uecker most recently
served as the head of family, education and nature television programs at
Hessischer Rundfunk, an affiliate of Germany’s ARD. She begins working at ABC
on April 1.

De Jong comes to ABC from
the BBC children’s channels, CBBC and CBeebies. She also played a key role in
securing international co-production and co-development opportunities for the
BBC’s children’s news factual and learning department. She begins her role as
commissioning and development editor at ABC children’s TV department on March
10.

Both positions are based
in Sydney, Australia.
