Nickelodeon in Latin American Pro-Social Initiative

MIAMI, January 25: Nickelodeon Latin America, in partnership
with UNICEF, will launch a new initiative aimed at motivating children
throughout Latin America to make positive changes for a better planet.

Beginning January 28, Nick’s new character, Verdito, will
make daily on-screen appearances to offer up suggestions and ideas aimed to
educate kids on things they can do to help make the world a better place.
Topics will range from the environment, recycling and conservation, to being
kind to others, eating healthy and staying active and having the freedom to be
yourself. Verdito, a square-shaped animated character who happens to be green,
expresses his opinions and ideas on improving the world around us in a fun,
exciting way that is age-appropriate for the Nickelodeon audience.

“Children are a fundamental part of building a better
future, and providing them with the tools to become more aware of their
environment is one of our goals,” said Nils Kastberg, UNICEF’s regional
director for Latin America and the Caribbean. “It is important to reach children
in a fun and creative way that they can identify with. We at UNICEF are happy
to be part of this initiative with Nick, and to have Verdito as a character we can count on to motivate children
to contribute to and be a part of a better planet.”
