Imira Scores Deals in Latin America

BARCELONA, January 10: Spain’s Imira Entertainment, formerly
Icon Animation, has inked several deals for youth programming with
Spanish-language channels and home-video distributors in Latin America and the
U.S.

The kids and family channel Sorpresa! picked up the
Spanish-language rights to the Imira-produced Lola & Virginia, an animated series for kids aged 6 to 12 that currently
airs on Animania in the U.S., Nickelodeon Latin America and SBT in Brazil.

In Latin America, Millimages’ series Louie has been acquired by Discovery Kids Latin America,
and is slated for a March launch. Home-video rights for the series have also been
taken by En Pentalia for Mexico. Additionally, Ecuador’s Ecuavisa has picked up
Skyland, which recently launched
on Nickelodeon International channels as well as on Nicktoons in the U.S.
Lastly, Miami’s Beverly Hills Entertainment snatched up the TV and home video
rights for Latin America for the animated film Christopher Coolumbus.

“Latin America continues to be a key market for us and one
where our shows perform very well. We are focused on expanding our sales
business to all Spanish-language territories and channels at NATPE this year,”
said Christophe Goldberger, the head of distribution and marketing at Imira
Entertainment
