Nat Geo Wild to Launch on RCS-RDS Across Central, Eastern Europe

LONDON, October 15: National Geographic Channel’s dedicated
wildlife network, Nat Geo Wild, is set to launch on the cable and DTH platforms
owned by Romanian telecommunications operator RCS-RDS across Central and
Eastern Europe.

Nat Geo Wild will be rolled out throughout October and
November on RCS-RDS’s cable platforms in Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, as well
as the Digi TV DTH platforms in Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia,
Croatia and Serbia. The channel will launch with a fully localized service in
each of these new markets and will be available 18 hours a day in 2.7 million
RCS-RDS/Digi TV homes pan regionally.

Already broadcast in the U.K., Hong Kong, Singapore and
select territories in Europe, Nat Geo Wild offers a unique insight into the
natural world, the environment and all the incredible creatures that inhabit
it. Nat Geo Wild programming comes from a variety of sources, including
co-productions and acquisitions with independent producers, European distributors,
and National Geographic Television (NGT) as well as from co-productions with
British terrestrial broadcasters. Nat Geo Wild programming includes the British
series Talking to Animals, in which
viewers see new techniques used to treat neurotic dogs, chaotic cockerels and
miserable lizards, as well as On Thin Ice, which follows a team of scientists trying to find ways to prevent the
extinction of the majestic polar bear.

Alexandru Oprea, the CEO of RCS-RDS, commented: “The launch
of Nat Geo Wild on both our cable and DTH platforms marks an expansion of our
already long standing relationship with National Geographic Channel. It is also
an opportunity for us to add valuable content for our subscribers and to grow
our broadcast offering across the six territories where we are available.”
