ZDF Announces UFA, teamWorx, Wall to Wall Deals

MAINZ, June 26: ZDF Enterprises has taken on the worldwide
rights to event productions from UFA and teamWorx, as well as the
German-language rights to properties from the U.K.’s Wall to Wall.

The UFA production Port of Hope—The Last Voyage of
the Wilhelm Gustloff
is based on historical
facts about the refugee ship "Wilhelm Gustloff, which was sunk by a Soviet
submarine in January 1945. This two-part production focuses on the tragedy, in
which more than 9,000 people died.

From teamWorx comes The Miracle of Berlin, set to commemorate the 20th anniversary
of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 2009. The TV movie deals with the
final months of East Germany as seen through the eyes of a young soldier in the
East German National People's Army.

Both productions will air on ZDF in Germany and will be
available for international broadcast from ZDF Enterprises. The distributor’s
president and CEO, Alexander Coridass, noted: "We have invested heavily in
both these programs. I am absolutely certain that they will complement the rest
of our catalogue perfectly, and that we will be able to market them successfully
on an international scale."

In addition, ZDF Enterprises has taken on the rights to
British indie Wall to Wall’s content for German-language territories. The deal
includes the six-part series Stranger than Fiction, the four-part Underworld Histories, the eight-part PBS series Texas Ranch
House
and The Oil Storm. Announcing the deal, Fred Burcksen, the VP of
distribution, merchandising and investments at ZDF Enterprises, commented:

distribution mandates and company purchases in the German territories. We are
now implementing this strategy and supplementing our program portfolio with
presales and high-quality titles."
