NBC Universal Inks Download Agreement in Germany

DARMSTADT, April 11: A range of NBC Universal content will
be made available on a download-to-own basis in Germany via T-Home, T-Com’s
IPTV service, with T-Com becoming the first digital retailer to offer a legal
and secure download-to-burn option for major studio content in Germany.

Under the terms of the new download-to-own agreement with Universal
Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE), broadband consumers in Germany
will be able to download Universal feature films and legally burn them to DVD,
beginning in the second quarter. Consumers will also receive two digital copies
of the films to watch on their PC and portable video device.

In a related video-on-demand agreement with NBC Universal
International Television Distribution, T-Com will continue to offer NBC
Universal feature films via their VOD platform. NBC Universal films were first
made available to T-Com customers in 2003.

As part of both agreements, T-Com will be adding new NBC
Universal titles to its download-to-own and video-on-demand services, such as The
Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
, Jarhead and Inside Man. In addition, T-Com’s download-to-own service will offer the anime cult
series Saber Raider and several
short-subject packages.
