Xilam Showcases Rintindumb, Rahan

PARIS, October 4: Ed
Galton, the executive VP of business development at Xilam, tells World Screen
Newsflash about the company’s two new properties for MIPCOM: Rintindumb and Rahan, Son of the Dark Age.

Rintindumb is made up of 75 1 minute, 20-second clips based
on the Lucky Luke comics by
Morris and Goscinny about “the dumbest dog in the west,” Galton says. The show
launched in September on France 3. “Rintindumb is a known commodity that has a ready-made fan-base
from the infamous Lucky Luke. I
think there is a demand at the moment for shorter format programming because it
is easy to schedule and it works for today's kids. Above all, Rintindumb is a high quality, comedy-driven property which will
appeal to the entire family.”

The other lead title is Rahan,
Son of the Dark Age
, which Galton
describes as an “epic prehistoric animated adventure series, aimed at 6- to
11-year-olds.” According to Galton, the goal is to secure financing for the
series in order to greenlight production later this fall.

Also on offer is the 26×30-minute Zinkia co-production Shuriken
School
, and DisEnchanted (A Kind of Magic), about fairy tale characters who are expelled from
their homeland.
