Winners Announced for Interactive TV Emmys

LOS ANGELES, July 27: The TiVo service and ABC’s online
streaming video player will take home Emmys for Outstanding Achievement for
Interactive Television at the Creative Arts Awards on August 19.

The winners were announced today by the Academy of
Television Arts & Sciences Interactive Media Peer Group

TiVo won for Outstanding Achievement for Enhanced or
Interactive Programming: Television, with the Academy noting, “The TiVo service
seamlessly connects consumers to the digital entertainment they want, where and
when they want it.”

ABC.com’s streaming video player is the winner for
Outstanding Achievement for Enhanced or Interactive Programming: New Delivery
Platforms. The Academy said, “Conventional wisdom dictated that it was not
possible to provide high bit-rate streaming video, over the Internet, to large
numbers of people simultaneously, while maintaining consistent quality and
doing so in a cost-effective manner. ABC.com's full episode streaming player
dispenses with those previously held beliefs as it leverages emerging
technologies and digital platforms to enhance and extend the ABC television
network's relationship with consumers.”
