2929’s Wagner Joins MIPCOM Lineup

PARIS, July 27: Todd Wagner, the founder and CEO of 2929
Entertainment—whose holdings include the HDNet channels in the
U.S.—will deliver the Digital Media Distribution keynote at MIPCOM.

Wagner’s presentation, Rethinking Hollywood, will take place
on October 10. Wagner will discuss his vision of the future of the Hollywood
film industry and how his companies—including 2929 Productions, Magnolia
Pictures/Home Entertainment, Landmark Theatres and HDNet—are operating
within and outside of the Hollywood system. Wagner has been a pioneer in
collapsing release windows, releasing the Academy Award-nominated documentary Enron:
The Smartest Guys in the Room
in theatres
and on TV on the same day. 2929 used the same model this year for the Steven
Soderbergh film Bubble.

His keynote kicks off the Digital Media Distribution day,
which will also include a Superpanel exploring emerging opportunities for
digital distribution for film and television, as well as a session on Internet
movie distribution.

Digital Media Distribution is one of four areas to be
explored through MIPCOM’s Reshaping Media conferences, alongside Advertising
and Programming, Mobile TV and User-Generated Content and the Impact of Social
Networks. Wagner joins the previously announced keynotes from Disney’s Anne
Sweeney, MGM’s Harry Sloan, Orange’s Sanjiv Ahuja, NBC Universal’s Beth
Comstock, and ESPN’s George Bodenheimer.
