AsiaPac’s Video Market to Reach $104 Billion by 2030

Streaming in the AsiaPacific is set for strong growth over the next five years, according to 3Vision’s latest Video Markets Tracker report, which estimates that it will hit $71 billion by 2030, while pay TV will stagnate at around $33 billion.

Streaming hitting $71 billion, based on combined revenues of SVOD, AVOD, FAST, EST and DTO, would mark a 32 percent increase from this year. Within streaming, ad-supported video is leading the charge, with expected growth of 69 percent over the next five years. FAST is predicted to double by 2030. Combined, AVOD and FAST will bring in over $25 billion in revenues by 2030 in AsiaPac.

SVOD overtook pay TV in the AsiaPacific last year. 3Vision predicts that this lead will continue to widen, with SVOD subscription sets to reach 1.2 billion in the region by 2030. I contract, pay-TV households will grow just 5 percent over the next five years, reaching 963 million.

“We’re seeing a more competitive region taking shape,” said Rafi Cohen, manager of the Video Markets Tracker at 3Vision. “China’s grip is loosening, while India and Japan are gaining ground. Only a few markets are holding on to pay TV. To make sense of these shifts, you need granular, reactive insights.”
