Streaming to Power Video Revenue Gains in North America, Europe

The video market in North America and Europe is projected to be worth $238 billion across pay TV and streaming by 2030, a 9 percent increase on this year, according to 3Vision’s Video Markets Tracker.

Over the next five years, streaming revenues will increase by 24 percent to $163 billion, with North America accounting for more than two-thirds of that.

FAST is the fastest-growing segment with a projected 60 percent increase to $12 billion across North America and Europe by 2030. Eastern Europe will see the sharpest increase, with revenues up 141 percent to $424 million. AVOD more broadly is also seeing gains in Europe, with hybrid BVOD services driving revenues to $15 billion by 2030, a 67 percent uplift. Comparatively, North America’s growth rate will be much slower, at 27 percent, reaching $26 billion.

SVOD ARPU growth is slowing; while average ARPUs rose by 21 percent over the past five years to $9.66, they are expected to rise by just 5 percent in the next five years to $10.17. Overall, SVOD revenues will rise 19 percent to $78 billion in North America and $37 billion across Europe.

Pay TV continues its decline, with subs projected to fall by 6 percent to 229 million homes across North America and Europe by 2030. This is a slower rate than the 14 percent drop since 2020. Overall pay-TV revenues will drop by 14 percent to $74 billion, with North America representing 62 percent of the total.
