Fans of Electric Entertainment’s sci-fi, fantasy and action-drama series will soon be getting an immersive experience to connect even further with the brands with the launch of ElectricCon. The fan-centric event, taking place October 12 and 13 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, will feature special guests, panel discussions, cosplay, autograph signing sessions, photo opportunities, exclusive merchandise and more for shows such as LeverageLeverage: RedemptionThe ArkThe OutpostAlmost ParadiseThe Librarians and The Librarians: The Next Chapter. Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment, talks to World Screen Weekly about what’s behind the launch of ElectricCon.

WS: What led to the launch of ElectricCon?
DEVLIN: It was actually the idea of Creation Entertainment. I had always respected them and the conventions they’ve put on. When they pitched the idea of doing one for our shows, we jumped at the chance. The idea of creating an immersive experience for fans of our shows is very exciting to all of us.

WS: How would you describe the fandom around Electric Entertainment’s originals? What is it about these shows that garners such a loyal and passionate following?
DEVLIN: Genre fans are very possessive about their shows. I know because I am one! When fans of these types of shows adopt a show, they tend to form communities, to debate storylines, support characters, write fan fiction and develop friendships. The support we’ve received from our fans is humbling and inspiring.

WS: What sorts of activations and programming will the event feature?
DEVLIN: For that you’ll need to speak with Creation Entertainment, but we’re hoping to have panels on all our shows, costume contests, live presentations (including some unseen footage) and even a live concert.

WS: How do these sorts of fan-centric events support the wider strategy of Electric Entertainment’s business?
DEVLIN: As a small independent company, we’ve relied on developing a one-on-one relationship with our viewers. It’s the entire reason we started ElectricNOW in the first place. We wanted to aggregate our fans in one place. Fan-centric events are the natural extension of that to not only service the desires of our fans but to allow us to get to know them and build on a relationship.

WS: What else will Electric be focused on for the year ahead?
DEVLIN: Season two of The Ark debuted on July 17 on SYFY and shortly after on Peacock. In October, our show The Librarians: The Next Chapter will premiere. And in 2025, we will finally be releasing the third season of Leverage: Redemption. So, there is a lot coming up, and we couldn’t be more excited about it all.
