Dori Media Takes Lalola Global

Dori Media Group has launched international sales, outside of the U.S. and Latin America, for the ViX original romantic comedy series Lalola and its format rights.

The Spanish-language series, produced by Dori Media International, is a remake of the International Emmy-nominated rom-com series of the same name that originally aired from 2007 to 2008.

Lalola tells the story of a successful man who thinks he can use women to satisfy his ego, until one day he wakes up as a woman. In his new reality, he suffers the consequences of machismo and must relearn everything, from walking to navigating the way to work to the true meaning of love.

The ViX original series stars Bárbara de Regil (Rosario Tijeras, Cabo, MexZombies), Diego Amozurrutia (Cabo, Cuna de Lobos, Cindy la Regia), Alejandro de la Madrid (La rebelión, Enfermo amor, Monarca), Alexis Ayala (Amar a muerte, Vencer la ausencia, Si nos dejan), Gonzalo García Vivanco (La Desalmada, Cuna de lobos) and Cynthia Klitbo (Juego de mentiras, Mujer de nadie, El privilegio de amar). It also features Carmen Madrid, Pamela Almanza, Majo Pérez, Chirstopher Aguilasocho, Alfonso Borbolla, Epy Velez, Lumi Cavazos and Francisca Aronsson.

Dori Media is selling the Spanish-language episodes of Lalola, as well as the format rights for adaptation.

“The highly anticipated return of Lalola has been met with open arms by both critics and ViX’s audience alike,” said Nadav Palti, CEO and president of Dori Media Group. “Our new modern take on this beloved romantic comedy series is clearly resonating, and we are now excited to offer these original Spanish-language episodes, as well as the format rights, to the rest of the international TV marketplace.”

“This is Dori Media International’s first production in Mexico, and we are all very proud of the result and Lalola’s proven potential for the international market,” added Joshua Mintz, chief content officer at Dori Media International. “We are thrilled with the amazing reception that the series has received, which is a testament to our great IP and a successful adaptation and production.”
