Edinburgh TV Festival New Voice Awards Winners Revealed

Winners of the second Edinburgh TV Festival New Voice Awards were announced last night at a ceremony hosted by actor, comedian and rapper Michael Dapaah at Rich Mix in London.

At the event, awards were presented in a range of disciplines. The New Voice Award winners for 2019 were as follows: Ambreen Razia (Debut Writer); Tiger Aspect’s Bryony Arnold, freelance producer Lindsay Konieczny and reporter and filmmaker Amandeep Bhangu (Mentor of the Year); Adeyemi Michael (Victor Adebodun Debut Director); Independent Talent 360 (Best Agency for New Talent); 0 Days Without Crying by Caterina Incisa (The Stage to Screen Award); Bad Wolf Productions (Best Production Company for New Talent); Olivia Phipps for Tall Dark Friend (Test Card Award); Sky (Best Broadcaster for New Talent); and The Dark Side by Halida Abbaro (The all3Media New Script Award).

Dapaah said: “Creativity is at an all-time peak, whether you’re six or 60 years old we can all have a crack at it. Thanks to various mediums whether that be television, the internet, theatre, radio, there’s never been a better time for fearless, budding creatives to bring their ideas to life. The world is oozing with talent and there is an audience who is ready to consume new projects 24/7. There’s never been such a hunger for new talent, and trust me, everyone is watching.”

Edinburgh TV Festival Director Lisa Campbell said: “New talent is the lifeblood of the TV industry and yet so many individuals do not get the opportunities they deserve. The New Voice Awards aim to give the brightest stars, whatever their background, a vital industry platform. We want to break down barriers so these outstanding winners can go on to cause creative carnage.”
