L.A. Screenings: New from NBCUniversal International Television Distribution

LOS ANGELES: NBCUniversal International Television Distribution is screening a slew of new shows that were picked up by the U.S. networks for the 2016-17 season, among them Chicago Justice.

The series, set for NBC’s midseason roster, is the fourth installment in the popular Chicago franchise. In this series, the State’s Attorney’s dedicated team of prosecutors and investigators navigate heated city politics and controversy head-on while pursuing justice.

Also set for NBC midseason is Emerald City, which NBCU will be screening for buyers. The show begins as a 20-year-old Dorothy Gale and a K9 police dog are swept into a mystical land of competing realms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. It is directed by Tarsem Singh (The Cell, Mirror Mirror). Another NBC midseason show being screened by NBCU is Taken, from executive producer Luc Besson, who also worked on the feature film of the same name.

Meanwhile, the medical drama Pure Genius, set for CBS this fall, is about a young Silicon Valley tech titan who enlists a veteran surgeon with a controversial past to run a state-of-the-art hospital with an ultramodern approach to medicine.

NBCU will have a comedy lineup to screen as well, including The Good Place, starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, and Great News, which counts among its executive producers 30 Rock’s Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. There’s also the NBC midseason comedy Marlon, loosely inspired by the real life of star Marlon Wayans, among several other comedy and drama highlights.
