MAINZ: Children’s series, dramas and a slate of factual titles are some of the highlights ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE), the distribution and production branch of German broadcaster ZDF, will be presenting at MIPTV.

The ZDFE.junior collection now features Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs, about a lovable bunch of dinos who are prevented from doing nasty things by four courageous kids. For older children, the company will offer Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures, a live-action show with a hero who seems to attract impossible situations. And on the animation front, Four and a Half Friends shows that kids can solve all kinds of misdeeds while still getting their homework done.

Two of ZDF Enterprises’ drama highlights are Blochin: The Living and the Dead, which revolves around a team of Berlin homicide inspectors, and Blue Eyes, about a young woman attempting to track down her mother's murderer. Joining them is the second-season return of the Scandinavian series Arne Dahl, in which the National Police’s elite force is reinstated after several Polish nurses are murdered in Sweden.

Among the factual highlights is the documentary The Invasion, a German-Polish co-production that brings to light many little-known facts about the Nazi takeover of Poland that started World War II. Apocalypse Neanderthal delves into the life and times of our closest human relative, and Secrets of the Bible presents a collection of stories about believers and adventurers searching for the literal truth behind the Bible’s greatest mysteries. Meanwhile, Wild Australia uses super-slow motion to follow animal dramas.

Finally, ZDF Enterprises’ entertainment roster includes the format Dalli Dalli, in which teams of celebrities vie to be the first to solve tricky problems; Quiz Champion, where challengers compete with five specialists in their field to win a quarter of a million euros; and Crime Watch XY, one of the most successful formats on German TV.

“We have added a selection of new top programs to our successful catalogues. I am sure that they will prove a recipe for top audience ratings for many more of our customers,” said Alexander Coridass, the president and CEO of ZDF Enterprises.
