SILVER SPRING: RLJ Entertainment (RLJE), an independent owner, developer, licensee and distributor that owns 64 percent of Agatha Christie Limited, has appointed Stuart Shaw as the managing director of RLJE International.

In his new position, which is effective September 1, Shaw will handle the international licensing and distribution business for RLJE. He will work out of London under CEO Miguel Penella. He is replacing Paul Holland, who has been heading up the U.K. office since 2006. As of January 15, 2015, Shaw will begin to oversee RLJE Australia following the retirement of MD Lesley Fromant, who has been with the company since 1997.

Shaw previously served as the director of international sales and marketing for Miramax in London. Before that, he spent a half decade at Paramount Pictures as the company's commercial director and retail marketing manager. He has also worked for Universal Pictures, BBC Worldwide and Procter & Gamble.

Penella said: "Lesley and Paul have been instrumental in growing RLJ Entertainment internationally, and we are excited to have Stuart continue to build on their work. Stuart's expertise and relationships in the digital and international areas will be key in growing the RLJE International business. Stuart has an outstanding reputation as an experienced, driven and energetic senior executive and is an ideal fit with our corporate culture."
