CANNES: Content Television’s history series Wild Wales is making its way to NHK Japan as part of a raft of acquisitions for the programming from the Content West catalogue.

Wild Wales aired on BBC Two in the U.K. It will play to a Japanese audience later this year on pubcaster NHK. The production, more than a year in the making, uses aerial and wildlife photography to introduce viewers to diverse natural worlds. Canada’s High Fidelity HDTV went for Wild Wales, as well as The Secret Life of Birds. Both will air on High Fidelity’s Oasis HD channel.

Viasat picked up three titles from Content West to air across Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Wild Wales and The Secret Life of Birds were included in the package, along with Anna’s Wild Life. Anna’s Wild Life was also scooped up by Discovery in the U.K. to air on Animal Planet, while The Secret Life of Birds heads to Spain on Chello Multicanal’s Natura channel. DVD/video rights for Wild Wales and The Secret Life of Birds also went to Go Entertainment for the U.K. and Time Life for Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Greg Phillips, the president of Content Television, commented, “Content West continues to demonstrate tangible growth as we realize this raft of deals. It is fantastic to see these productions heading to all corners of the world through this range of new deals. Cardiff is one of the largest and fastest growing production centers in Europe, and Tim Morley and the team at Content West are doing a great job in sourcing and delivering internationally appealing programming in line with our global distribution strategy.”
