LONDON: Following a deal with Zodiak Rights, HDNet in the U.S. has picked up the comedy web series Goodnight Burbank, which originally debuted on Hulu.

HDNet has the rights to the six-episode 30-minute series. Zodiak Rights had acquired the TV distribution rights of the series in April. Goodnight Burbank debuted on Hulu.com and the Hulu Plus subscription service earlier this year. The show will premiere on TV on October 12.

The series, a spoof of a nightly real-time newscast, is written and produced by Hayden Black. It stars Laura Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program), Dominic Monaghan (Lost) and Black with special guest stars John Barrowman (Torchwood), Juliet Landau (Buffy) and Miracle Laurie (Dollhouse).

“The first ever half-hour comedy made for the web just became the first ever half-hour comedy made for the web picked up by TV,” Black said. “The blurring of new and traditional media just got a whole lot blurrier.”
