IPTV Expected to Boost Asia-Pac Telco Revenues

SCOTTSDALE: Telecom operators in the Asia Pacific will benefit from increased IPTV and broadband revenues in the years to come, reports ABI Research, which forecasts that overall broadband and pay-TV service revenues in the region will experience a 34-percent gain to $147 billion in 2016.

DSL, fiber broadband and IPTV revenues at Asia-Pac telcos will grow from $52.5 billion in 2010 to $79.5 billion in 2016, ABI reports. Cable-TV companies, meanwhile, will see their revenues fall slightly from $51 billion to $49.5 billion.

“Managers at international companies are all aware of the fabulous opportunities in Asia where population growth and economic growth meet, and the potential for technology adoption seems endless," said Jason Blackwell, research practice director. "At the same time, country-to-country variations and different business norms make understanding the opportunities, and engaging to win, very difficult."
