LOS ANGELES: The movie Hick, adapted from a novel by Andrea Portes, has joined the international sales catalogue of Content Film.

Hick stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Blake Lively, Eddie Redmayne, Alec Baldwin, Juliette Lewis, Rory Culkin and Ray McKinnon. Portes penned the script, with Derick Martini as director. The coming-of-age road movie tells the story of a 13-year-old who is determined and undeterred no matter what life throws at her.

Content will be bringing the film to Cannes and show a first teaser exclusively on site. CAA and WME are representing the film for North America.

Portes said, “From Oscar nominees, to both an award-winning director and writer, to some of the hottest American and British actors of a younger generation, each person signed up for this film because they believed in the story and that it should be told; they have poured their souls into this work. It’s a hard hitting coming-of-age pull no punches journey and a slap in the face wake up call that when the world hammers you down and you’re born into nothing, you may just choose not to accept it.

Jamie Carmichael, Content Film’s president, said, “I had the great pleasure of visiting the set a few days ago and I was blown away by the quality of the production and the killer ensemble cast. We really have some of the most exciting actors working today being directed by the very talented Derick Martini—it’s a very potent combination—and we can’t wait to show our footage at Cannes.”
