TORONTO/LOS ANGELES: Entertainment One (eOne) has extended its agreement to continue distributing film titles from Summit Entertainment in all media across Canada and the U.K.

Summit’s film catalogue includes the Twilight franchise; the Academy Award-winning The Hurt Locker; Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage; the action-comedy Red, starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman; and the recently released action-thriller Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The Jodie Foster-directed film The Beaver is on Summit’s list of coming releases.

eOne expects to release up to eight titles a year from the Summit catalogue in the U.K. and Canada. Upcoming films include the fourth and fifth installments of The Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn: Part 1 and Breaking Dawn: Part 2. The output agreements have been extended until July 2015, covering all Canadian and U.K. rights.

“We are thrilled to extend our strong relationship with Summit Entertainment. The highly-successful partnership has fostered tremendous growth in both our businesses over the past three years,” said Darren Throop, the president and CEO of Entertainment One.

“The strong lineup of films from Summit was an important addition to our slates in 2010, where we finished as the number one independent distributor in the U.K. and the number two in Canada,” added Patrice Theroux, the president of filmed entertainment at eOne. “This will serve a great foundation as we continue to grow our business in the U.K. and Canada.”

“The team at eOne has been a great partner for the studio these past several years,” remarked
Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman, Summit’s co-chairmen. “The executive team continues to prove their ability in bringing our films to the largest audiences possible in these two key markets and it is more than fitting for us to have them continue to do so.”
