MUNICH: The new action series MEK 8 (Elite Squad 8) from action concept Germany has been added to the international sales catalogue of Telepool, which will launch the show next week in Cannes.

The show was produced by action concept Germany, the team behind Cobra 11 (which Telepool also represents), for RTL 2. MEK 8 looks at the inner workings of an elite German SWAT police squad, whose members battle both organized crime and their personal demons. RTL 2 plans to air the first episodes in the second half of 2011.

Irina Ignatiew, Telepool’s executive VP of international, said: "action concept series like Cobra or Lasko, with their high production values and top action, perform consistently worldwide. This ‘eye candy’ effect travels very well. We’re confident MEK 8 will work just as well, thanks to its action-driven plots, great visuals and charismatic cast. We’re very proud and excited to present this new series at MIPTV this year."

Herman Joha, action concept’s CEO, commented: "Telepool has done a terrific job selling Cobra to the world. Now with more than 220 episodes, Cobra airs in more than 120 countries, making it the best-selling German TV brand abroad. If we manage to achieve similar results for MEK 8, I’ll be more than happy."
