UNIVERSAL CITY: The movie-on-demand subscription offering PictureBox has brought its PictureBox Player streaming service for Internet-connected devices to the U.K. and Ireland.

The new service is available on Samsung Smart TVs. PictureBox Player is also available on the iPad and PCs, making it a three-screen service for subscribers. Further global expansion is planned for the Player, as is the addition of new connected devices. Subscribers to the new PictureBox Player streaming service will be able to access content on multiple connected devices through a single subscription. PictureBox Player will share the same content schedule as the original PictureBox service, which will continue to be available through its traditional TV platform partners. At any given time, 28 current and library feature films from NBCUniversal and other content suppliers are available for on-demand viewing. Movies are refreshed on a weekly basis.

“The launch of PictureBox Player in the U.K. and Ireland is a major step in the evolution of the PictureBox brand, and now provides consumers the convenience of multiple screen access,” said Belinda Menendez, NBCUniversal International Television Distribution’s president.
