Video Interview: Rob Clark

NEW YORK: Rob Clark, the president of worldwide entertainment at FremantleMedia, is particularly keen on three new formats, which he talks about in this video.

The first is My Name Is, which Clark says has elicited an even bigger response from buyers than Got Talent received when it was first introduced five years ago. The second, Total Blackout, came from the creative alliance FremantleMedia formed earlier this year with Fuji TV, and the third is Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, whose subject is art, but is an inspirational character-driven show.

All three follow Clark’s formula for a proper format, which calls for a beginning that captures the audience, a middle that allows contestants or participants to either shine or fail, and finally an ending, where either a winner is created or a dramatic moment is revealed.
