SÃO PAULO: Globo TV International has sold the telenovela Paradise City into territories such as Uruguay, Honduras, Argentina, Nicaragua and Portugal.

The novela—from Benedito Ruy Barbosa, the author of hit novelas such as Little Missy, Terra Nostra and The King of the Cattle—is a remake of an original that aired in 1982 from the same author. The story is set in the countryside of Brazil, serving as the backdrop for a great passion that lived between a young couple: Maria Rita, considered to be a saint, and Zeca, who is thought to be the son of the devil.

Raphael Correa Netto, the head of international sales at Globo, commented: "With an impeccable production and involving musical language, the telenovela leads audience numbers on channel Teledoce in Uruguay, where the drama is being aired at the moment. Paradise City presents a constant growth curve in Uruguay. In Brazil it was no different. The numbers show a consistency in audience numbers for the product."
