MUNICH: KI.KA has picked up the rights to seasons one and two of the Canadian live-action tween comedy series Majority Rules, produced by Entertainment One.

The German kids’ network picked up the series, about an average teen girl who becomes mayor of a small town, via a deal with Daro Film Distribution and Peppermint.

“We are very happy that Majority Rules will be enriching the KI.KA portfolio further by addressing the viewership from older kids," said Sebastian Debertin, head of fiction and program acquisition at KI.KA. "The comedy series introduces humour and entertainment in a manner that political and social topics are presented in ways where it will benefit kids and tweens. This is regarded as an added value towards pure entertainment where Majority Rules meets the criteria of a public broadcaster’s programming duty in an outstanding way."
