Rysher to Appeal Nash Bridges Verdict

LOS ANGELES: Rysher Entertainment intends to "aggressively pursue all legal recourse" to yesterday’s verdict that awarded actor Don Johnson $23.2 million in profits from the series Nash Bridges.

Bart H. Williams of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, Rysher Entertainment’s attorney, stated, "While we respect the jury’s right to their judgment, there are several matters of law that will form the basis of Rysher’s appeal. We are ready to undergo the appeals process and are confident that in the end, [the] outcome will be reversed."

The trial began two weeks ago, with Johnson—a 50-percent owner of the show—alleging that he was owed millions in profits from the series, which aired on CBS for six seasons. Rysher contended that the series lost money overall.

"It was my idea, and I owned the rights in the first place," Johnson said in a statement. "From the beginning, I have asked only that Rysher honor our contract, and I am so pleased that the jury agreed with me."
