New Commissions for SPT Germany

HUERTH: Sony Pictures Television’s German production operation has signed up a host of new commissions for scripted and unscripted fare for ZDF, Sat.1, RTL and WDR.

SPT Germany is producing Das Comeback (The Comeback), a comedic movie for ZDF, Deutschland’s Meisterkoch (MasterChef) for prime-time on Sat.1 later this year, a fourth season of Böse Mädchen (Nasty Girls) for RTL and Mark Metzger & Gesellen for WDR to air this August.

“These latest commissions are a fantastic result for our German operation and show the progress made over the past year under the guidance of Astrid Quentell," said Kees Abrahams, the president of international production at SPT. "Across both scripted and non-scripted content, these commissions demonstrate SPT’s unique ability to acquire highly successful international formats for local adaptation and our expertise in making programs that truly appeal to local tastes.”

Astrid Quentell, managing director and senior VP of production for SPT in Germany, has been with the company since November after having joined from Eyeworks Germany.
