MUMBAI: Reliance Broadcast Network, a division of Anil Ambani’s Reliance-ADA Group, this weekend announced a proposed joint venture with CBS Studios International to roll out entertainment networks in India.

According to published reports, the companies have entered into a preliminary nonbinding agreement for a 50/50 joint venture. The deal is expected to close within a month, according to Reliance’s statement to the Indian stock exchanges. The portfolio of networks would kick off with an English-language general-entertainment channel stocked primarily with titles from the CBS Studios International library. The pair would eventually explore the creation of local-language nets.

CBS Studios International kicked off its global channels strategy last year in Europe, aligning with Chellozone for networks in the U.K.
