WASHINGTON, D.C.: National Geographic Channel has entered into a deal with yap films to co-produce the three-part series Storm Worlds, which looks at what would happen to if the deadliest weather in the universe descended upon our planet.

Set to premiere in the U.S. on May 16, and internationally in May, Storm Worlds uses dramatic recreations and CGI to show powerful and bizarre extraterrestrial weather. Top scientists from around the world have come together to investigate how weather on our planet may hold clues to understanding meteorological mysteries taking place in deep space.

Storm Worlds offers an astounding—and frightening—glimpse of what the universe has the power to unleash, critically examining solar storms that would send a lethal shock-wave across our planet,” said Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of content for National Geographic Channels International. “NGC’s partnership with yap films on Storm Worlds has delivered a series with compelling story lines and outstanding CGI that will thrill audiences.”

"It’s been great working with NGC on Storm Worlds," commented
Elliott Halpern, the executive producer of the series for yap films. "With their support and encouragement, yap pushed the envelope to deliver an ambitious astronomy series that immerses viewers in the wildest weather in the Universe on a very visceral level by literally bringing alien storms down to Earth.”
