ITV1 Commissions Marco’s Kitchen Burnout

LONDON: ITV Studios’ newly created entertainment format Marco’s Kitchen Burnout has been commissioned by ITV1 for broadcast in spring.

From the creators of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Hell’s Kitchen, the series follows as an all-star cast enters the kitchen for a culinary throwdown. Each installment follows three stars as they compete, and only two go on to the next round. The show stars celebrity chef Marco Pierre White. "I’m the ringmaster and I will crack the whip," commented White. "They will have to do everything themselves, they really are in charge of their own destiny. And this time they will have to face the public."

Layla Smith, ITV’s commissioner of entertainment, said, “Marco Pierre White is an amazing talent and there is nowhere for the celebrities to hide as he pushes them to their culinary best. A cool head and a strong nerve is what’s needed as they face not only one of the country’s greatest chefs but also a restaurant full of diners.”

Executive producer Beth Hart added, “In Kitchen Burnout it’s every chef for themselves, cooking and coping alone under incredible pressure. We saw a lot of celebrities crack under the strain. The sensible ones begged Marco for his help—the rest served some terrible food, left a lot of diners unfed and ultimately faced Kitchen Burnout.”

Remy Blumenfeld, the director of formats at ITV Studios, commented, “Kitchen Burnout is about cutthroat competition; it’s about strategy and talent. There’s no teamwork in Kitchen Burnout. For the loser, there are no second chances. And nobody else to blame. We’d love to see this show firing up TV schedules all over the world.”

ITV Studios Global Entertainment will premiere the format and the U.K. version of the series at MIPTV.
