Comedy Central Ups David Bernath

NEW YORK: David Bernath has been promoted to executive VP of program strategy and multiplatform programming at Comedy Central.

Bernath was previously serving as senior VP in this capacity. He will continue to oversee Comedy Central’s program scheduling and acquisitions group, in addition to managing the network’s content across all digital platforms. His credits at the company include spearheading the channel’s negotiations with Twentieth Television to secure the exclusive basic cable syndication rights to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In addition, Bernath negotiated the deal with 20th Century Fox TV resurrecting Futurama for 26 new episodes, which will also air on the network this summer. He was also instrumental in Comedy Central acquiring the off-network rights to 30 Rock.

"Dave has been a key architect in the success of Comedy Central over the last five years," said Michele Ganeless, the president of the network, to whom he reports. "His passion for comedy, innovative approach to deal making and keen strategic sense will help the network continue to thrive."
