4Kids Highlights New Animation

NEW YORK: The 90-minute family special Turtles Forever will be making its debut in the 4Kids Entertainment catalogue at MIPCOM, alongside the new space-themed animated series Rocket Monkeys.

Turtles Forever incorporates three distinctive versions of the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: as they appear in their original 1984 black and white comic book, the late ’80s/early ’90s animated style and their current animated form.

“This is one of the most ambitious and creative presentations of the Turtles ever,” said Brian Lacey, the executive VP of 4Kids Entertainment. “It’s an all-family viewing event thanks to the enormous popularity the Turtles have earned over their first 25 years. This property truly bridges two generations, appealing to the original Turtles fan base who’ve become the young parents of today, and to their children.”

4Kids is also presenting Rocket Monkeys. The series follows two monkeynauts as they make contact with new alien species, experiment with new technologies and explore new worlds. The HD property, available for delivery in fall 2010, consists of 20 half-hour episodes.

“Broadcasters around the world are eager to introduce new comedy content in their schedules and I am confident that Rocket Monkeys will be one of the most popular series among the MIP Junior new program entrants,” added Lacey. “The show’s contemporary graphic look, combined with fast-paced comedy that arises from the conflict between the obsessive compulsive Gus and the free-spirited Wally will be endearing to viewers everywhere.”
