2waytraffic Rolls Out Millionaire Spin-Off

HILVERSUM, September 24:
2waytraffic International has unveiled its new game show format, 50-50, the first spin-off from Who Wants To Be A
Millionaire?,
which has already
secured deals in Japan, Greece, Australia and Italy.

Japan’s Fuji channel will
broadcast the pilot in November, while Mega Channel in Greece picked up a daily
version of the series to launch in fall 2008. In Australia, Nine Network will
produce a pilot, and Endemol Italy has bagged the rights to produce the format
for the Italian market.

The format is an extension
of the 50-50 Lifeline from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, where contestants will play in pairs to make
choices between two possibilities. If the pair agrees, the original answer is
locked in, but if they disagree, they overrule their partner’s answer and the
other option is locked in instead. 50-50 can run as a weekly or daily series.

Ed Louwerse, the managing
director of 2waytraffic International, commented: “50-50 is an incredibly exciting development for us,
which has the potential to play as either a companion to Millionaire or as a stand-alone show. I’m delighted to be
taking the format to MIPCOM with partners already on board, and would like to
thank Fuji, Mega, Nine and Endemol Italy for their early support.”
