RTL International Releases Live-Stream App

COLOGNE: Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland’s channel RTL International has launched an app-based live stream for iOS and Android devices.

The service includes an ad-free live stream in HD quality, an electronic TV guide and programming information. The RTL International app and streaming service is available worldwide except in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the U.S.

RTL also announced that it will soon launch the RTL International channel on Roku streaming players in Canada, Mexico, the U.K. and France. In the U.S., the channel will be distributed via the cable network operator Mediacom Communications.

Stefan Sporn, the senior VP of international distribution at RTL, said: “After only just six months following our channel launch, we are very happy about the much improved reach of RTL International thanks to the partnerships with our platform partners, in particular in the critical U.S., Canadian and Australian markets. Furthermore the RTL International app marks another important milestone in our distribution strategy. With it, all of a sudden, we can be received almost everywhere in the world.”
