LONDON: Passion Distribution has sold the first season of the rebooted competition series Robot Wars to a number of broadcasters worldwide, bringing the show to more than 90 territories.

The 6×60-minute freshman season is headed to Viasat World for CEE and CIS Explore. BBC Worldwide also snapped up the new season for Africa and Sky New Zealand, and has taken the series for its free-to-air network Prime. These sales follow acquisitions by ProSiebenSat.1 TV in Germany and Manoto TV, which picked up the free-TV rights for Farsi/Persian speakers in Iran.

Robot Wars looks on as the creations of amateur robot designers fight to the death in a bulletproof arena. The original version aired for seven main seasons in the U.K. The reboot, produced by Mentorn Scotland and SJP Media, premiered on BBC Two this summer. It was recently commissioned for a second season.
