SANTA MONICA/VANCOUVER: Gisela Asimus-Minnbergh has been named to the newly created role of VP of alternative programming sales for Lionsgate.

Asimus-Minnbergh will be part of the team responsible for helping to launch the company’s unscripted programming and format sales division globally. She is tasked with identifying new revenue streams and business opportunities for Lionsgate’s slate of alternative programming as well as negotiating and closing format and programming deals across most European territories. Asimus-Minnbergh previously served for eight years as sales director of television distribution for Endemol.

Lionsgate’s unscripted slate for MIPCOM includes Kicking & Screaming, a survival competition show from Fear Factor producer Matt Kunitz debuting on FOX in January. Lionsgate has retained all international format rights to the series.

“As Lionsgate continues the robust expansion of its alternative programming slate, we are continuing to build a team of sales executives who can identify and capitalize on distribution opportunities around the world,” said Ted Bookstaver, Lionsgate’s senior VP of alternative programming sales. “Gisela is an accomplished international television executive with a proven track record of sales and strong relationships with a diverse array of digital and traditional buyers. She is a great addition to our growing team.”
