More Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence for CI

A+E Networks has commissioned a second season of Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence for Crime + Investigation (CI) in the U.K. that will premiere early next year.

Filming has begun on the 8×1-hour second season of the true-crime series, which follows Coltrane as he unveils the details behind some of the U.K.’s most complex murder investigations. Cases covered in the new season include the disappearance of 38-year-old Suzanne Pilley, whose body has never been found, and the conviction of her ex-lover David Gilroy; the death of Karen Price, whose body was only identified due to groundbreaking facial reconstruction techniques; and the posthumous conviction of Joseph Kappen, 27 years after he murdered three teenage girls in Llandarcy, Wales. From IWC Media, Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence launched in fall 2016.

Koulla Anastasi, the channel director for Crime + Investigation at A+E Networks UK, said, “We’re thrilled to be working with IWC Media’s talented team again on this award-winning CI series. The strong audience figures for season one proved that our viewers continue to be fascinated by the world of forensic science, particularly in the compelling company of Robbie Coltrane.”

Susan McGregor, series producer for IWC Media, added, “The hardest cases to solve are those without an obvious lead, requiring a painstaking process of gathering and evaluating evidence. These stories reveal the astonishing dedication of investigators determined to follow the trail until they catch the killer. We’re delighted to be making a second series for CI that will make gripping viewing for its loyal crime audience.”
