Zinkia Entertainment has signed an agreement with Japan’s Aqui Media that spans television and VOD distribution, L&M and advertising rights for the animated preschool property Pocoyo in the country.
Japanese audiences can now watch the first three seasons of Pocoyo on platforms overseen by Aqui Media. This includes TV viewing and streaming via an SVOD app for mobile devices. The deal also gives Aqui Media exclusive management of the brand’s L&M rights across such categories as toys, publishing and apparel. In addition, the company will organize local promotions, advertising, meet-and-greets and live events.
Alberto Delgado, the CEO of Zinkia, remarked: “It is an important strategic move for the company. We are happy to work with the Aqui Media team in this new stage of Pocoyo in Japan. Aqui Media have made important inroads into the local animation industry and has the knowledge of Japanese culture Pocoyo needs.”
