LONDON: ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has entered into an exclusive format representation deal in Brazil with production company Formata Production and Content.

Formata will represent ITVS GE’s nonscripted formats across all genres to broadcasters and digital platforms in Brazil, and will also produce those formats where necessary. The deal builds on ITVS GE and Formata’s existing relationship, which sees Formata produce the Brazilian version of ITVS GE’s cooking contest format BBQ Champ for SBT. ITVS GE will also have the option of picking up Formata’s formats for international distribution.

ITVS GE’s format portfolio includes a range of titles such as I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Saturday Night Takeaway, The Chase and Come Dine with Me, as well as recently launched formats like Drive, Love Island and Keeping the Nation Alive.

Daniela Busoli, the founder and CEO of Formata, said: “Given the extensive and high-quality format catalogue that ITVS GE carries, representing this global giant gives Formata the credibility and competitive differential in the Brazilian market. This partnership also allows us to tap into ITVS GE’s international distribution network and to keep Formata up to date with market trends and new developments in the audiovisual world.”

Greg Johnson, the executive VP of distribution for the Americas at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, commented: “With one of South America’s largest television markets, Brazil is a key focus of our formats business, with two more of our formats going into production there this year. Daniela and the team at Formata have a great deal of production experience, close relationships with local broadcasters and platforms and a strong understanding of the Brazilian television landscape, all of which will prove invaluable in helping us to further grow our formats business in the country.”
