LONDON: BBC One has commissioned a sixth season of the crime drama Death In Paradise from Red Planet Pictures.

The fifth season, which wraps up its eight-week run on February 25, has a consolidated average viewership of 8.1 million and a 29-percent share. The show follows a crime-fighting team as they solve complex and mysterious murder cases on the French island of Guadeloupe.

Tim Key, the executive producer for Red Planet Pictures, added: “I’m delighted that the fifth series of Death In Paradise has proved so popular. We’ve got more ambitious plans for series six, with a whole host of intriguing puzzles as well as the joy of working with our amazing cast and guest stars. We can’t wait to get back to Guadeloupe and start shooting.”
